The Burning Lantern
Between Gloucester St. and Nepean St., we’ve created a light display that comprises of a series of glowing lanterns. This installation is inspired by the hardships we’ve all faced amidst the Covid-19 pandemic and the hope that carries on. This installation is all about projecting hope into the world. This light show will allow participants to submit messages of hope to be used as part of a collective of digital glowing lanterns, floating in the night sky. It’s been a year. For our minds. For our souls. For our bodies. Lets embrace 2022 as a fresh new start by letting go and hoping for the best.
Submit your tweets of the hardships you’ve faced or a tribute to someone who’s near and dear to you between February 7th - 11th and tag @downtownbank for it to be featured at the Fire & Ice Winter Exhibit.
Wings of a Butterfly
Between Gloucester St. and Nepean St. you’ll find Wings of a Butterfly, where you will finally get the chance to spread your wings and fly. One at a time, participants will stand in an allotted area and become part of an interactive work of art. Spread your wings as a butterfly and watch as your wings turn from fire to ice. It’s all about welcoming your consciousness and becoming one with the moment. When we live our lives in full consciousness, with a joyful, spiritual wisdom, it’s like a butterfly emerging from a cocoon. This visual experience is meant to give you a sense of freedom. A fresh start as a butterfly. Now that’s something you need to see for yourself.
Winter Whirlwind
Near Nepean St. and Lisgar St. you’ll find the Winter Whirlwind, a 20-foot tall lighting structure that is as eye-catching as it is utterly joyful. When participants move through the structure, a motion detector will be set-off allowing for its projected light and music to change. The Winter Whirlwind’s funky vibrations will send the audience into a euphoric state, floating along with the rhythm of the lights.
