The Royal Oak and Hopeful Hearts Dog Rescue are teaming up again to host the Hopeful Heart’s Walkathon, on May 31.
The Walkathon raises money for the Hopeful Hearts Dog Rescue, a canine shelter focused on providing homes to older, abandoned and troubled pets.
This year walkers have a choice between two meeting times, 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., at Jack Purcell Park. Tickets and pledges will be collected before the walk. The walk will commence from Jack Purcell Park, on Elgin and Frank Streets, to the Rideau Canal, where a stop with light refreshments will be available. After the break, walkers will head back to the Royal Oak for a barbecue, Beau’s beer, prizes and special vendor tables. Thirty per cent of all Beau’s sales will go to the Rescue.
If you are interested in participating, you can register online and begin collecting pledges by visiting the Walkathon’s website! The minimum pledge is $35.
If you have any questions, would like to participate, vend, volunteer or donate items, please e-mail [email protected].
